ON THE BEACH

If Scotland enjoyed endless hot sunny days all summer long you can be sure our beaches would be nothing like this. There would be high rise hotels all along the shore and rows of sunbeds and sun shades, and of course lots of people. So OK, we get chilly winds and often grey skies, but we also enjoy peace and quiet. These pictures were taken at the end of June. How many people can you see on our beach.

Looks so nice and peaceful. I'd love to be there. One thing I don't like about beaches is the crowds.
The comment left on my blog by carver about the cemetery being near the church was a surprise to me too. Most all the old churches around here have cemeteries next to them!!

I love Jarvis' bad hair day! Scotland has so many beautiful beaches, and in the summer the hills inland can be so lush and stunning. But you're certainly right about the weather - if we could count on it to be hot and clear for the entire summer, many of the beaches would be holiday parks by now.

Thank goodness, in a way, for our weather!

Lovely empty beaches - great for dogs and humans alike to stretch and breathe in that wonderful air - even when it's raining :-)

What a great photo of Jarvis! Love it!

I'd take cool weather beaches all to myself over crowded hot weather ones any day. Beautiful photos, Chris.

Oh what lovely quiet beaches! Jarvis is so cute, I can relate to those bad hair days, except Jarvis' hair is longer! haha!

Oh would I love that climate --and the 'lack' of tourists... We never go to the beach around here in Summer due to the crowds... That's why we go in May...

I'll bet you are thrilled not to have lots of highrises, etc. around that beautiful area... WOW.... I LOVE it.

Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy

I think you have a perfect beach. I may need to visit (or move to) Scotland just to find a quiet place like this to enjoy the beauty of the sea and the majestic shore.

You have a very idyllic place there, how i wish to just stay in an area like that and don't worry about work or the world, hehehe. The 2 dogs will be okay with me, and also my books and camera! I feel envious.

Hello Chris... so good to see you! Your beach looks like some at the Oregon coast; we love to go when it is cooler and even when it rains, as few people care to brave the elements.

It appears you had a lovely holiday and with such wonderful scenery and charming inquisitive 'friends'. Beautiful Scotland!

I've missed a few posts again, I see.

What a lovely day, and how lucky to have the beach all to yourselves! I have to say, I love the photo of Jarvis modeling his bad hair day. That truly brought a smile to my face! I also love your photo of Bryan heading up the path at the end. That is a comfortable, peaceful-feeling photograph. =)
